Mr.
Doug Maloney is in his first year as Associate Band Director at Heritage High
School. He spent the spring of 2007 as the Interim Band Director at Memorial
Middle School in Conyers, GA. A native of Burke, VA, he received his Bachelor
of Music Education Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2006.
While at the University of Georgia, Mr. Maloney held positions with the Wind
Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and numerous chamber brass ensembles. Mr. Maloney
was also a four year member of the Redcoat Marching Band, serving two years as
trumpet section leader and one year as band captain. In addition, he spent a
year marching trumpet with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. A trumpet
student of Mr. Bill Siegfried and Professor W. Fred Mills, Mr. Maloney has
instructed trumpet and brass clinics for the University of Georgia Summer Music
Camps and numerous high schools and middle schools throughout Georgia.
He
is a recipient of the Phi Beta Mu Outstanding Instrumental Music Education
Award and a GMEA Music Education Scholarship Winner. Mr. Maloney is currently a
member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, MENC, and Pi Kappa Lambda
Music Honor Society.
Mr.
Maloney remains sincerely appreciative of his first band directors, Mrs. Gale
Bayen at Cherry Run Elementary School in Burke, VA and Mr. Lou Bean and Mr. Roy
Holder at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia. He is the son of
Michael and Elaine Maloney. His brother, Kevin, is a professional trumpet
player in Boston, MA. |
